In this pre-recorded webinar, speaker Kathy Collins, BSN, RN, CPHQ, CPPS, will increase learners' knowledge and understanding of the CMS Patient Safety Structural Measure (PSSM). Learners will explore the 5 domains of the PSSM, review examples of best practices and practical steps for implementation and continuous improvement and take a look at leadership's role and engagement in achievement of PSSM.

This course, in its entirety, will take an estimated 55 minutes to complete.

Kathy Collins, BSN, RN, CPHQ, CPPS serves as a Clinical Improvement Consultant (CIC) with an expertise in informatics at Compass Healthcare Collaborative. Collins works with the Compass Data Team and the Compass Hospital Quality Improvement Network CICs to assure hospitals are submitting accurate and timely data. She also creates reports and dashboards with analysis to assist the hospitals and CICs in creating data-driven decisions and enhance their improvement efforts. Her clinical background includes ambulatory care, utilization review and case management, long-term care as both a staff nurse and director of nursing, obstetrics and medical surgical units as well as infection prevention. She has led quality for over twenty-five years in both critical access and prospective payment system hospitals. Collins holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality/CPHQ and Patient Safety/CPPS.
